The place was build by the nazis before world war II to be used by the german elite. After the war the place was used by the Belgian Army which made it possible to avoid the destruction of an exceptional place. Belgium had different military camps in Germany, each camp being some sort of town with a school, a church, a postal office, some shops and of course a prison. The buildings are now used by a youth hotel, a museum and a restaurant.
L'endroit a été construit avant la seconde guerre mondiale pour éduquer l'élite nazie. Après la guerre l'endroit a été utilisé par l'armée belge (Forces Belges en Allemagne) ce qui a permi d'éviter la destruction d'un site d'exception. La Belgique avait différentes bases militaires en Allemagne qui étaient gérées comme une ville, avec une école, une église, un bureau de poste, des magasins et bien sûr une prison (Malakoff). Les batiments sont maintenant utilisés comme auberge de jeunesse, restaurant et musée.
De plaats werd voor de tweede wereldoorlog gebouwd voor de opleiding van de duitse eltie. Na de oorlog werden de terreinen gebruikt door het belgisch leger (Belgische Strijdkrachten in Duitsland) zodat de ventietiging van de gebouwen vermeden kon worden. België had verschillende militaire basissen in Duitsland die beheerd werden zoals een stad, met een school, een kerk, een postkantoor, verschillende winkels en natuurlijk een gevagenis. Nu worden de gebouwen gebruikt als jeugdherberg, museum of restaurant.
