There is a park on one side of the island and a railroad to the steelworks in Chertal on the other side. Torpedoes were used to transport molten pig iron from the blast furnace to the steelworks. The steelworks are closed and the railroad is not used anymore.

Er is een park aan één kant van het eiland en aan de andere kant een spoorweg naar de staalfabriek in Chertal. Torpedos werden gebruikt om het vloeibaar gietijzer van de hoogovens naar de staalfabriek te vervoeren. De staalfabriek is gesloten en de spoorweg wordt niet meer gebruikt.

Il y a un petit parc d'un coté de l'ile et une voie de chemin de fer vers l'aciérie de Chertal de l'autre coté. Des torpilles transportaient la fonte en fusion des hauts fourneaux à l'aciérie. L'aciérie est maintenant fermée et la voie de chemin de fer n'est plus utilisée.

Het kanaal van Antwerpen naar Luik (Albertkanaal) start hier. Het kanaal werd vroeger gebruikt om grondstoffen van Antwerpen naar Luik te vervoeren (steenkool, kalksteen en ijzererts). Hoewel er nauwelijks nog staalnijverheid is wordt het kanaal nog veelvuldig gebruikt.

The Canal Albert is a waterway between Antwerpen and Liège and was mostly used to bring raw materials to the steelworks in Liège. There are no active factories in Liège anymore but the canal is still used extensively.

Le canal Albert servait surtout à apporter des matières premières à l'industrie lourde de Liège (du minérai d'outre-mer, du charbon de Campine et du calcaire des Pays Bas). Il n'y a pratiquement plus de sidérurgie à Liège mais le canal est toujours autant utilisé.
